At the BE Awards Dinner, held on 22nd February at the Athena, Leicester, it was a triumphant night for Buckinghamshire, winning the much-coveted title of County of the Year 2024.
Cathy paid tribute to the hard work put in by all the clubs and their members, without whom this achievement would not be possible. She also mentioned Rhys and wished him well during his continued recovery.
The citation read
"Buckinghamshire continued to grow in affiliation numbers and overall participation, excelling in the use of the Play Bowls system and governance. Their volunteer workforce and safeguarding efforts were highly rated. On the green, they secured several national titles and Andrew Briden and Tom McGuinness earned international recognition."
This is an award for everyone in Bucks and it was an honour to receive it on your behalf.
